Review on Rosario and MMFF Winners

As to my previous post, Rosario is a Metro Manila Film Festival official entry. It is now showing in cinemas together with the other movies/entries in the film fest. Since I have nothing to do yesterday, my mom and I decided to watch it in Festival Supermall Alabang.

As expected, queue on the thicket booths were long. It is moving, however, that is why it is also okay. Also, only a few would watch this film so the cinema itself is not crowded. You can still choose a seat even if you're 5 minutes to the screening. It is just super cold inside because of the few people.

Anyway, the film was good. Good but not what I have expected. It succeeded in showing what the Philippines looks like in the 1920's. The people's clothes, looks and how they talk which is still a mixture of Spanish and Tagalog and a bit of English since the are is set on the American period in the Philippines. Even the cars, the street and the houses resembles that of the old days. There was just this one mailbox that I am not sure but I feel it is out of place (It was like it's painted in silver and does not like look metal at all), however, it is an important meeting point in the story that is why I think it has that emphasis and I keep noticing it.

The actors and actresses I think were lacking something. I don't know why Jennelyn Mercado wasn't nominated as best actress but she should be, however, she should not receive the award. It seems like she didn't give justice to the role. There is something lacking and I can't feel her enough in her role. Even Yul Servo and Dennis Trillio has something lacking in their role.

Sid Lucero was the one I admired in this film. I think in his minimal role in the story, He gave his all to the character. I think he did great. Gut that was just my opinion. You should watch to see.
