Food Trippin' Korea: Twotwo Fried Chicken

Our first meal as we arrived at Seoul was near Myeongdong station (look for Pacific Hotel) and Namsan 3 Guesthouse where we stayed. It was the first food stop we saw and so we decided to give it a try. We had our late lunch at Twotwo Fried Chicken.

Twotwo Fried Chicken is known to be the best and original fried chicken in Korea. It has a branch here in the Philippine at Pearl Drive in Ortigas a few years back when I was still working at the area. I haven't got the chance to try it out there that is why I am also eager to get to have a taste of their fried chicken here. This is the only branch they have in Korea so we grabbed the opportunity to eat in this place.

The place looks like a pub where there are a lot of seats for the guests and a large flat screen TV can be seen from all these tables. They serve beer which matches great with the chickens they serve. They also allow you to smoke inside and sell them as well. They have a second floor to accommodate more guests.

The place is dimly lit and it has a cozy ambiance. It is perfect for large group gatherings because the servings they have are really big. Since it was in the afternoon, the place has a few customers dining. The TV shows a soap opera where the owner is watching. It was good since it seems like we had the place for ourselves.

The staff there are nice. I'm not sure, maybe she was the owner. Upon deciding on our order, she immediately got them to be cooked. She served us some plates and some cubed radish (?) to munch on while waiting for our food. She also served us some water when asked. We didn't wait for long before our orders to arrive and they were all hot.

We had their platter of Fried Chicken which according to them was good for 3 to 4 people. However, it was really a big dish for the three of us who shared it. They have a side salad too that comes with it.

What I like about their chicken, aside from the fact that it was freshly cooked, is that it doesn't have bones that you need to remove upon eating. They are also good dipped in ketchup. I think they are best paired with beer. The special recipe they have for these chickens are really a winner.

We also had a plate of Fries and we were surprised of the amount of it. We thought it was just like in fast foods here but they have a really big serving. It also has a side salad on it.

The food there were really good and filling. I liked the chicken very much and I hope I could try it out with beer, but I'll leave it on the next time I'll be there. It is a must try place and I think even if it still has its branch in Ortigas, it is much better that you get to try it in the country it originated.
