Lunch Out Series: North Park

After our 2 week Sprint, we were in for a reward for doing our best in the last cycle. Our Scrum Master awarded us with a lunch out at North Park. Originally, we were supposed to have lunch on another venue but since they don't offer reservations, we just chose a closer place from the office for us all, at Convergy's Building, just across our building.

There are a lot of food choices at the ground floor of the building, one of them is North Park. The area is just small but big enough to accommodate large group of people. The place is well decorated, with the counter and kitchen on the far end and tables and guests in most of the area. There is also a waiting area near the entrance door at the front where guests could stay while waiting to be seated. At lunch time, the area is packed with people, good thing we took an early lunch, so there were moderate number of people and we were seated after a few minutes of waiting.

North Park Convergy's Interior with the busy diners
We pre-ordered upon waiting and as we took our seats, we just waited for a short while before the food came. We had a lot of food and it was like a feast. We had North Park Special Toast Noodles, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Boneless Honey Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour Lapu Lapu Fillet, Shanghai Chicken, Salted Garlic Squid, Stir Fry Beef with Broccoli Leaves, and an extra order of Broccoli in Oyster Sauce.

Stir Fry Beef with Broccoli Leaves (P223.30)
The Stir Fry Beef with Broccoli Leaves is one of my favorite dishes. The sweet sauce and the saltiness of the beef compliments the broccoli leaves well. Also, I love broccoli that is why there is a bias in this dish for me.:P

Yang Chow Fried Rice (P157.30)
The Yang Chow Fried Rice is just like any other fried rice you can order in a Chinese Restaurant. There is nothing special for me here except that it has more flavor than if you order an ordinary steamed rice.

Salted Garlic Squid (P201.30)

The Salted Garlic Squid comes with a yummy dip that can be placed on almost every dish we had. The meat is not tough to chew however it tasted plain without the dip which brings out its flavor. It is best consumed while still hot.

Boneless Honey Lemon Chicken (P220)
The Boneless Honey Lemon Chicken is another of my favorites. It's meat is tender and the sweet and sour taste of the lemon sauce complements the deep fried meat well. I simply just like it however, it was the first dish to be consumed. :(
Sweet and Sour Lapu Lapu Fillet (P256.30)
The Sweet and Sour Lapu Lapu Fillet is yet another yummy dish. This has to be consumed while still hot. The meat is tender however you need to soak it on the sauce to have a bit of a flavor since it is a bit plain in taste.

Shanghai Chicken (P267.30)
The Shanghai Chicken looks like an ordinary roasted chicken however, I am not really sure how it was cooked. It tasted good and the meat is tender. The skin is also tasty. I tried to put the Salted Garlic Squid's dip on it and it goes perfectly well with it.

North Park Special Toast Noodles (P238)
The North Park Special Toast Noodles is one must try dish. The toasted noodles is topped with meat and vegetables and underneath it all is a sauce for the noodles. You can ask the waiter to mix it upon serving so you won't do it yourself since it is quite tough when doing it yourself. The noodles softens as it is mixed with the sauce but it retains its flavors. Together with the toppings, it is a complete dish on its own. this is really a must try here!

They also serve towers of iced tea for groups of people and you can enjoy it with all the dishes you ordered. We had one and a tower was enough for 9 people.

It was a filling lunch and everyone was full after consuming everything on the table. We were all satisfied and we went back to the office with a happy tummy. We were all happy to have finished our tasks on time and we had a nice reward like this. If another opportunity like this arise, I am sure that we will work extra hard for another yummy lunch treat.

So anyone who likes Chinese Food with a lot of varieties, try out North Park and I'm sure you'll have a lot of choices to choose from. I am also sure you'll enjoy your stay and leave with a happy tummy like us.
