Place to Stay in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Fern Loft Inn

Our arrival at Malaysia for our day 2 trip is around 1am in the morning. We initially planned to just stay at a 24 hour mall but later on, while planning the itinerary of this trip, we decided to look for an accomodation so that we could have a place to sleep and take a shower before we go on our day trip at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We chose Fern Loft Inn for our short time
stay there.

Located in Chinatown, we grabbed a cab after Aeroline dropped us off at Corus Hotel. The cab was about RM35 and we felt we were fooled by the cab driver since the other group paid less. It was very uncomfortable in the cab, thankfully there were many of us in there. The good thing about it is that cab drivers in Malaysia are ready to call the place wherever you are going to ask for directions. One thing you will never see in cab drivers here in the Philippines. We reached the area after a long while because the cab driver needs to gas up before going to Chinatown. We arrived at the area after several minutes of searching and trying to call up the place. The cab dropped us off a place similar to Manila. We waited for the others and after a while, decided to check in because someone might take our reserved room.

We paid up upon arrival at the counter. The man in charge there was surprisingly a Filipino and he talked to us in our native tongue. It was nice to have been accommodated by someone from our own country. After we have paid, we went to our room, freshen up and got ready to sleep. We were all tired that it was one of the best sleep we ever had!

We got the 8-bedded dorm. The room was small and is consist of 2 double-deck beds and some lockers for our stuff to put in. Since we all know each other, we just used the lockers to place our stuff and didn't mind to lock them. The each bed, both lower and upper deck, consist of an outlet for the guests to charge in their electronic stuff. The sheets were clean and a pillow and blanket is provided.

Our room (sorry, a bit messy)

There is a common toilet and bath at the end of the hallway. It has 3 shower areas and two toilets. One of the toilet area also has a shower. there is also a common lavatory for everyone. It was a bit of a challenge for the shower to work. Good thing there are a few people there since  we spent a lot of time figuring how to make it work.

The hallway
The hallway at that floor is bare. There was just a mirror and a lamp but we love to hang out in that place since the wifi signal is strong in that area. We just had to keep our voice lowered because there are also guests resting on the other rooms on that floor.

The lower floor also consist of room and the receiving area consist of the counter and some computers for guests to use for free.

In the morning, after freshening up, we went to the rooftop where you can have your breakfast. It is for free, however it is self service, and they only provide you with bread and spread and coffee or tea. You can toast your bread and choose any of the spread you like and prepare your own coffee or tea or milk. You are also responsible of washing the dishes you used.

Toast some bread

And choose the spread you like. Peanut butter and jelly! yum!

They have this wall where there are a lot of graffiti from different guests. We decided to leave our mark there and we enjoyed doodling on the walls. It was nice and very friendly place for us.

This is our work of art! ;P

What I cannot forget about this place is the other guests that we mingled with. One was a foreigner who speaks Tagalog and she speaks it fluently. I enjoyed conversing with her and his husband who is pure Pinoy (where she learned our native tongue). It was fun to meet her and we exchanged experiences.

After breakfast, we packed our stuff and checked out. We continued with our adventure in Malaysia after we left this place.

The place was so good and convenient for backpackers. I recommend this place if ever you are in Kuala Lumpur or in SIngapore. It is a cheap place to stay especially if you are a backpacker, convenient, comfortable, clean and nice staff. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely go back here.
